ABOUT ME
My name is Rony Masri, and I am seeking your support to continue serving as Vice-President of the OSSTF Toronto Teachers’ Bargaining Unit (TTBU).
I have been honored to serve as the TTBU’s Vice-President this past year, following 7.5 years as Executive Officer. Throughout this time, I have proudly represented members, advocated on your behalf, and defended public education. It has been the most challenging role I’ve ever held, yet incredibly rewarding. I ask for your trust in re-electing me as Vice-President in the upcoming May election. I am committed to continuing the vital work of supporting members like you, ensuring you have the best working conditions to help you excel in supporting your students.
Please share my election literature and linktree to spread the message.
MY EXPERIENCE: A Record of Strength & Action
With nearly 25 years of service and unwavering dedication, I bring deep knowledge and a record of success to defending our members.

Executive & Negotiation Expertise
Serving 8+ years as an Executive Officer and Vice-President (Staffing). Played an integral role as Second Negotiator to help achieve our most recent local Tentative Agreement with improvements for members. Has also served as a Certified Health & Safety Inspector, Staffing Officer, and Provincial Councilor.

A Defender of Members’s Rights
Successfully safeguarded and enforced the Collective Agreement, including filing grievances on behalf of members against management’s overreach of their rights. Additionally, advocated for members to ensure the Board fulfills its duty to accommodate employees in the workplace.

Fostering a Growth Mindset in Leadership
I have actively pursued professional development during my time on the Executive, attending numerous conferences and workshops to enhance my skills in representing you. My training covers negotiations, legal issues, health and safety, attendance management, representation, equity, and mental health advocacy.

Deep Classroom Understanding
With 17.5 years in the classroom, Rony fully understands the hardships teachers face daily, including increased workload, workplace violence, and hybrid teaching challenges. This combined knowledge drives his strong advocacy for Public Education.
A Dedicated, Strong Former Branch President
My 15.5 years as Branch President at Humberside C.I. involved providing support, upholding the Collective Agreement, and organizing successful actions. As Executive Officer, I now use this experience to support and mentor Branch Presidents, prioritizing their development so they can better represent members.

Endorsements
I’m grateful and honored to have the following members publicly endorse me:
Michael Anthony
Former VSS Branch President, A.Y. Jackson C.I.
I am proud to be endorsing Rony Masri for Vice President! Throughout my time as a general member and as a Branch President, Rony has always demonstrated to me the most important characteristic of a leader in a representative system–the willingness to dialogue and engage. Our membership holds many different opinions on just about everything and we need a leadership team who will listen to those opinions, not just to say they have listened, but in an attempt to take as many perspectives into account when making decisions and acting. This is an incredibly difficult thing to accomplish, yet it’s among Rony’s major attributes that serves our membership every single day. We need Rony’s strong leadership to continue to move us forward!
Sonja Brittain
Branch President, Etobicoke C.I.
I am happy to endorse Rony Masri as an OSSTF D12 Vice President. During the years that I have worked with him, I have found Rony to always be prompt with his response time as well as extremely knowledgeable and thorough in his explanations. He has been warm and welcoming to new members of the Bargaining Unit as well as firm with school administration when necessary. Good luck Rony!
Jason Law
Branch President, Sir Wilfrid Laurier C.I.
As a long-time Executive Officer, Rony worked with me on a variety of issues: from Members’ everyday concerns to the whims of a rogue principal. He is patient, thoughtful and thorough, and I have seen these traits carry on into his work as a Vice President. His work as a Staffing Officer has been an asset to this entire Bargaining Unit, especially in recent years. I do not hesitate to offer my full endorsement for his re-election as Vice President.
Carmen Ku
Branch President, Newtonbrook S.S.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with Rony Masri both as an Executive Officer and VP, and I’ve seen how consistently he supports members and responds to their concerns. He is approachable, helpful, and always willing to dig deeper when needed. I’m happy to endorse his campaign for Vice-President.
Michael Wong
Branch President, Greenwood S.S.
Rony has been an instrumental mentor to help me build my ability and confidence in my early years of being a Branch President at Greenwood Secondary School. With his guidance I have been able to build member engagement, educate my fellow colleagues on their role as members of OSSTF, and have built a solid understanding of the staffing process. Rony provides key, concise information in a timely, efficient manner and is responsive to the individual needs of members. Through his years of dedicated experience as a Branch President, Executive Officer, and Vice-President, Rony has a wealth of knowledge and expertise to continue leading our union through supporting Executive Officers in their important work with school branches and their members. Rony has demonstrated his commitment to members with ongoing training in negotiations, legal issues, and health and safety. Rony is a fierce and skillful advocate of public education and leads with compassion and understanding. I look forward to a stronger and more proactive union with Rony at the leadership table. Join me to re-elect Rony as Vice-President!
Terry Maguire, Branch President, Parkdale C.I.
I, Terry Maguire, readily endorse the candidacy of Rony Masri as Vice President of OSSTF Toronto. As the Branch President at Parkdale CI, I worked with Rony for two years. During that time, I came to know and respect Rony as a dedicated, knowledgeable, and hard-working Executive Officer. As our representative, he served our members well, seeing them through sometimes difficult and trying situations, with strong advocacy and sensitivity. I have known Rony to be someone who has always guided the members of the District well, as an EO and now as a Vice President of the Bargaining Unit. From Queen’s Park to MPP offices to walking the line with members of our Branch – he has been there for the membership of OSSTF Toronto. I urge you to re-elect Rony Masri so he may continue his fine work as a Bargaining Unit Vice President.”

Rony has provided support to the TTBU Executive, as well as teachers across the TDSB. He has proved to be an excellent mentor for teachers looking to increase their engagement with the union. By supporting our union, by reducing barriers to access and participate in TTBU council meetings he demonstrates a commitment to equity; his voice has been integral supporting and mentoring members across the TDSB, as well as on the Constitution and Steering Committee in the TTBU.
